Founded more than a decade ago, Mane in Heaven connects people with miniature therapy horses to promote kindness, empathy and overall wellbeing.
We connect people with miniature therapy horses to promote kindness, empathy, and overall wellbeing. Equine therapy is long-proven to help both disabled and able bodied children and adults help build trust, communicate and regulate emotions. Our dedicated team of volunteers and miniature horses brings equine therapy to hospitals, schools, veteran facilities, community outreach events and others in need, as well as those in need. Our tailored programs range from reading skills to healing after loss. We hope you will join us in bringing a sense of love, laughter, healing and smiles to those we serve.
Mane in Heaven’s events promote the benefit of human interaction with the mini therapy horse. These visits underscore the importance of mini responsiveness to our friends. The non verbal communication from our minis to our friends takes place at each visit. Our trained mini therapy horses engage with our friends and visitors using their eyes and their bodies. Such simple acts of touch with petting, embracing, body pressure, walking, grooming, and sounds from mini to human allows for meaningful and therapeutic interactions with each visit.
Mane in Heaven is a volunteer based organization. Mane in Heaven selects volunteers with abilities and skills that enable a safe, healthy and beneficial interaction for our visits. Our volunteers are trained and certified for mini horse therapy work as well as client interaction. Continued education is required for all volunteers to update skills, knowledge and competency in horse management and client interaction.
Mane In Heaven relies solely on donations, sponsorships, fundraising, and grants to provide for all the needs and care of our minis, sustain our volunteer recruitment, education, meeting locations, volunteer rewards, equipment, vehicle(s) procurement and maintenance for transportation, boarding, medical care and various other expenses necessary to ensure a safe living and work environment for our minis and volunteers.
